Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of the Mealpenny app. On iPhone, your use of the app is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA"). These terms add to the Apple EULA; if they conflict, the Apple EULA controls. By using Mealpenny you agree to both.
1. What Mealpenny does
Mealpenny plans a week of dinners around the budget, household and preferences you enter, creates a grocery list, and shows estimated costs. Recipes, plans and prices are general information for personal, non-commercial use.
2. Subscriptions
Seeing your full week, grocery list and recipes requires a Mealpenny subscription. Current options in the U.S. App Store:

Prices may differ outside the U.S., may include or exclude taxes depending on where you live, and may change. The price and terms shown in the app and on Apple's purchase sheet at the time you subscribe are the ones that apply.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or, if you start a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Free trial conversion. The yearly plan's 3-day free trial automatically converts to a paid yearly subscription at $39.99 per year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Price changes. If a renewal price changes, Apple will notify you as its rules require, and may ask for your consent.
How to cancel
You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings, not inside Mealpenny:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Mealpenny, then Cancel Subscription.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. In Mealpenny, Settings → Manage subscription points you to the same place.
Refunds and restoring
Payments are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. To use your subscription on a new or reset device, sign in with the same Apple ID and tap Restore purchases in Settings or on the subscription screen.
3. Prices are estimates
Costs in Mealpenny are estimates, not quotes. They are based on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics average price data for your Census region, plus documented estimates for items it does not track. Your store, brands, sales, package sizes and sales tax will change what you actually pay. Mealpenny does not guarantee that any plan will cost a particular amount or stay within your budget. Nothing in the app is financial advice.
4. Not medical, nutrition or dietary advice
Diet options such as vegetarian, gluten-free or high-protein are food preferences used to filter recipes. They are not medical, nutrition or dietary advice and are not designed to treat, manage or prevent any condition. Talk to a qualified health professional about your diet.
5. Allergies: always check labels
Mealpenny can skip recipes that contain ingredients you mark as allergens, based on its own ingredient list for the major food allergens. Ingredients, recipes and manufacturing vary by brand and can change, and products may contain or come into contact with allergens that are not listed. Always read product labels and check every ingredient yourself. Do not rely on Mealpenny to keep an allergy-safe kitchen.
6. Cooking safely
Follow the safe internal temperatures shown on recipes, use a food thermometer, and use your own judgment about food handling, storage and leftovers. You are responsible for how you prepare and store food.
7. Acceptable use and content
Mealpenny's recipes, text, price data and design belong to Mealpenny or its licensors. You may use them for your own household. Don't copy, resell, scrape or redistribute them, and don't try to bypass the subscription.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mealpenny is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for grocery costs, food preparation outcomes or allergic reactions arising from use of the app. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you. Nothing here limits rights you have under applicable consumer law.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date above shows the latest version. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
